A large hole in a tooth close to the tooth's nerve will cause a large deep filling close to the tooth's nerve when the hole is made. In these cases, the tooth's nerve will often be sensitive for a period of time afterwards. The tooth will often react when chewing and occasionally when eating cold foods. The sensitivity can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, after which the sensitivity will typically subside on its own. If the pain increases and becomes severe, contact your dentist. Read more about tooth decay here.
We only recommend silver filling replacement if the silver fillings are leaking or causing cracks or crazing in the tooth. It is especially important to have it replaced if the cracks cause pain when chewing. We check for cracks/cracks during regular examinations. A third reason to replace a silver filling is cosmetic. If it is very visible when you smile, this can also be a valid reason to have it replaced. Read more about dental fillings here.
There are several reasons why your wisdom tooth may need to be extracted. As a
As a rule of thumb, it makes sense to have a wisdom tooth removed if you have one:
- Hole in the wisdom tooth or hole in its neighboring tooth
- Periodontal disease on the neighboring tooth
- Inflammation around the wisdom tooth
- Cyst formation (i.e. a fluid-filled cavity) around an unruptured
wisdom tooth - A wisdom tooth that has not erupted and is bothering the neighboring tooth
- Special bite conditions where the wisdom tooth is bothering.
In all cases, it will be necessary for you to get an individual assessment of your

Irritation and soreness from teeth that are exposed to cold/heat or sweet is a common occurrence. It can have a variety of causes. Most often it's nothing serious - the gums have pulled away from the tooth slightly, exposing the sensitive cervix. In other cases, it could be your tooth crying out for help because it's sick. That's why you should have regular dental check-ups to make sure your tooth is in good health. If you haven't had a check-up recently, you should contact us to have your tooth examined.
If your gums bleed regularly, it's usually a sign of gingivitis and it's important to get checked by your dentist or dental hygienist. Gingivitis can occur if bacteria build up along the gum line. It is therefore important to know the right technique for adequate home dental care. We would love to help you learn the right techniques and examine your gums. Read about gingivitis here.
How often you need to have your teeth cleaned is very individual. At each examination with your dentist or dental hygienist, they will assess which treatments will be most appropriate for you, including determining the interval that will be best for you. Read more about teeth cleaning here.
The short answer is no! Tartar is calcified bacteria that gets really stuck to your teeth. If you try to remove them yourself, there's a high risk of damaging your enamel. That's why you should always have them removed by a dentist or dental hygienist.
Bad breath is not necessarily caused solely by poor oral hygiene. Bad breath can also be a sign of serious diseases. If you have bad breath, it can be caused by poor oral hygiene, meaning that bacteria build up in your mouth and teeth. It can also come from gingivitis or periodontal disease. You can prevent bad breath with regular thorough dental cleanings at the dentist. But in any case, contact your dentist to determine the cause of bad breath. Read more about halitosis.
Around 40% of people between the ages of 40 and 70 experience snoring - mostly men. It's usually harmless but often disturbs partners. Snoring is caused by vibrations in the throat. During sleep, the pharyngeal muscles relax and the tongue sinks backwards. This leaves less room for air passage and thus vibrations in the soft tissue. A customized snoring splint forces the lower jaw and thus the tongue forward, opening the airway and preventing snoring. Before a splint can be fitted, a preliminary examination with your dentist or dental hygienist is required.
The dentist will need to take X-rays to examine the tooth and tooth root from the inside. It is often not possible to see if there is a hole in the tooth from the outside. You also need to see how big the hole is. It is also not possible to see tooth roots from the outside, which is why an X-ray is also necessary.
There are different reimbursement options. First and foremost, it's important to visit a dentist and find out what treatments are needed. In many cases, it will be possible to get a subsidy for part or all of the treatment from the municipality. You will be given a treatment plan, which you must submit to the municipality. In some municipalities, we as dentists have access to send in the estimate electronically. The municipality will then calculate whether you are eligible for a subsidy based on your finances. When we receive the grant, you will be called in for treatment.
The dental emergency service in Copenhagen is located at Oslo Plads 14 2100 Copenhagen Ø (at the exit to Østerport Metro Station). It is not possible to book an appointment, so just show up during opening hours. Remember to bring your health card.
You can pay in cash or by Dankort/Mastercard. Payment for children and young people under the age of 18 is settled directly with the municipality, unless the municipality has opted out. Read more about emergency dentist here.
Cavities, also known as tooth decay, can be stopped in the earlier stages with fluoride, as it strengthens the enamel. However, it cannot stand alone. Optimal oral hygiene is important to avoid disease. There is a lot of talk about fluoride these days. In this regard, it is important to distinguish between fluoride, which is in our toothpaste, and the polymerized fluoride used in packaging, among other things. The 2 types have nothing to do with each other. Fluoride is an element, and in the right amounts it helps to restore a bit of enamel and can slow down the rate of development of a cavity or stop it completely.
An implant can be seen as a new root or in more craftsman language: a rawlplug. This can be used to fix a crown after a healing period, which is why an implant is also called a fixture. It is drilled to a specific diameter, angle and depth depending on jaw conditions. It can be compared to hanging things in a house; are they heavy and is the wall solid or porous? After drilling, the implant is inserted at a certain torque with a wrench. In some cases, surrounding bone or soft tissue may need to be built up before or during the implant surgery.
When chewing with dentures, the gum will give about 2mm, which is a lot in a mouth. The bone is stressed so it will shrink over time, which will make it harder for the denture to stay in place. In the upper jaw, a denture will cover the roof of the mouth, giving a better hold in the denture compared to the lower jaw. lower jaw. However, the upper denture takes up significantly more space in the mouth and the taste experience is therefore reduced. In the lower jaw, a denture will never stay in place as the tongue will constantly move the denture around. This can be very uncomfortable for patients.
With implants, a denture will not tilt or drop. At the same time, the implants do not give way, resulting in significantly better chewing ability.
Compared to partial dentures, implants have the added advantage of not putting any strain on remaining teeth. Read more about dental implants here.
It's not unusual for a tooth to be sensitive after getting a filling. It usually goes away on its own, but if it becomes unbearable, you should make an appointment with your dentist.
Icy teeth can be caused by many things. For example, inappropriate brushing, acid damage or cavities. Ask your dentist what you can do.
Yes, we do all types of cosmetic teeth straightening: cracked, discolored or gaps between teeth. All children aged 0 - 18 years are entitled to free dental treatment at the children's dental clinic. If you want your children to receive private dental care, you must contact your municipality's children's dental clinic and inform them that your child needs to be transferred to private dental care. They will then send the transfer, medical records and x-rays. The private dental care will then send the bill to the pediatric dental care. However, we do not recommend this, as pediatric dentistry is geared towards children with equipment and materials. During the summer vacation, emergency dental treatment can be performed even if you go to children's dental care.
You contact us and inform us that you have dental fear. We will then arrange for you to get to know us better. There are staff around you who are trained to deal with dental fear. We do not recommend mouthwash. With proper oral hygiene in the form of brushing and flossing, there is no need to use mouthwash. Mouthwash does nothing for the oral cavity or teeth.
We recommend a toothpaste with fluoride. Choose a toothpaste that you like and that contains fluoride. There is no evidence that expensive toothpastes are better than cheap ones. The most important thing is to brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
Bacteria in the oral cavity settle on all surfaces of the teeth. Even between the teeth where the toothbrush can't reach. Therefore, other aids are needed to achieve optimal oral hygiene and avoid diseases such as cavities, gingivitis and periodontal disease. Which aids to use is individual, and your dentist or dental hygienist will help you find the best one.
