We have several patients who are either annoyed by the color or shape of their front teeth. With dental veneers, you have the opportunity to change the appearance of your teeth without them looking unnatural. We can customize both color, shape and any malocclusions. Below are examples of how we have changed the appearance of teeth by giving them a new veneer.
At Tandliv, we have many years of experience with both plastic and porcelain veneers. This ensures a gentle process and an end result you'll be happy with - both now and in the long term.

What are porcelain facades?
Porcelain veneers are very thin and carefully customized shells that are crafted in a tooth-like porcelain. We place and bond the material to the front of the teeth to correct a range of dental issues - including misaligned teeth, worn tooth enamel, broken teeth from decay, gaps between teeth, discoloration, cracks and minor fractures.
Some people have porcelain veneers done for cosmetic reasons, because the treatment can help create a bright and uniform smile. However, at Tandliv, we also use veneers for health reasons - for example, to protect the tooth surface in case of damaged teeth.
What are plastic facades?
Plastic facades have the same function as porcelain facades. However, as the name suggests, they are made from a different material. Plastic veneers also don't give quite as nice a result, as the material is harder to make look natural compared to your own teeth.
Nevertheless, plastic veneers can be an advantageous treatment in some cases - not least because the treatment is less extensive than a porcelain veneer treatment. In the clinic, however, you will always be greeted by dedicated and skilled dentists who can advise you on the most optimal treatment.
When are dental veneers needed?
There can be different reasons for choosing a treatment with veneers. Typically, we treat patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth in one way or another - for example, because of:
- Worn tooth enamel
- Gaps between teeth
- Discolorations on enamel due to acid damage
- Uneven teeth
- Misaligned teeth.
So there are often cosmetic reasons to choose dental veneers treatment.
However, the treatment can also help protect the surface of damaged teeth - preventing the need for longer and more demanding treatment. Veneers on teeth may therefore also be necessary for more practical and health-related reasons.
Pros and cons of the different types of dental veneers
At Tandliv, your dental health is the starting point for our work. That's why a thorough consultation is always the first step in a porcelain veneers treatment. Here, we examine the general health of your mouth to ensure that you are suitable for treatment. During the consultation, we will also provide you with an overview of possible alternative treatment methods and thoroughly familiarize you with the pros and cons.
Together with you and based on our experience and expertise as practitioners, we make the final decision. If we decide that porcelain veneers are the best treatment, we will then draw up a treatment plan.

The process of getting porcelain facades
Dental veneer treatment takes place in three steps - an initial examination, grinding and impressions, and application of the veneers.
Before the treatment itself
Once the porcelain veneers have been fabricated, you will need to visit us once again in the clinic where we will attach the veneers to your natural teeth. We do this using a strong plastic cement that glues the veneers in place. The porcelain material is very strong and therefore helps protect your natural teeth inside the veneer.
With plastic veneers, you can get a beautiful and natural-looking result that realistically resembles your natural tooth tissue. We typically recommend plastic veneers for cosmetic treatments. They are ideal for both closing large gaps between teeth and restoring broken teeth.
The treatment itself - first visit to the clinic
At your first appointment, we will grind the surface of the tooth, take an impression of the teeth and make a temporary plastic replacement for you. The dental lab will then fabricate the porcelain veneer. Fabrication usually takes a week to 10 days.
Temporary veneers are made from a plastic material that is not nearly as durable as the final veneers - nor do they have the same great aesthetics. This means that you need to take some precautions during the time you have temporary veneers on your teeth.
For example, be careful not to bite into hard foods and be aware that temporary veneers are more susceptible to food coloring, such as curry. Finally, make sure you brush your teeth gently and don't floss.
Second visit to the clinic
Once the porcelain veneers have been fabricated, you will need to visit us once again in the clinic where we will attach the veneers to your natural teeth. We do this using a strong plastic cement that glues the veneers in place. The porcelain material is very strong and therefore helps protect your natural teeth inside the veneer.

The process of getting plastic facades
There's no need to grind your teeth if you need plastic veneers. We start with a pre-treatment, after which we bond the plastic veneer to your tooth enamel. We then build up the veneers with a layering technique to mimic the natural appearance of your teeth.
The treatment is completed by curing the plastic. A treatment with plastic veneers is therefore significantly less extensive than a treatment with porcelain dental veneers.

FAQ - dental veneers
Dental veneers, also known as porcelain veneers or dental laminates, are thin shells of porcelain or plastic that are attached to the front of teeth to improve their appearance. Dental veneers can be used to correct tooth color, shape, size and even correct minor malocclusions. They are often a permanent dental treatment.
The price of dental veneers varies depending on several factors, including the number of teeth to be treated, choice of material and the dentist's geographical location. Generally speaking, the price of a dental veneer can range from $4,000 to $10,000 or more per tooth.
The process of getting a dental veneer is generally painless, as the dentist will use local anesthesia. After the procedure, the patient may experience minor sensitivity or discomfort, which usually disappears within a few days. If pain or discomfort persists, you should contact your dentist.
