New patient - change dentist to Tandliv
If you're a new patient, you're about to have your first examination at our dental clinic. If you haven't already booked an appointment, you can contact us here.
For some patients, the prospect of changing dentists is a slow and cumbersome process of phone calls and paperwork. That's not the case at Tandliv.
At your first appointment as a new patient, we will create your medical record and go through a general check-up of your dental health. If you're afraid of going to the dentist, we'll make sure we talk about it together.

Your first survey
When you've just become a new patient at Tandliv, the first step is to book an examination with us. At the examination, you will have a good conversation with your new dentist where you will have your teeth checked. The examination is priced by the Danish Health Authority. Find the prices here.
The first examination is important as we need to:
Create your journal
We need to have a record created for you in which we register which and how many teeth and fillings you have. This status is required by law. It is done so that we can follow your development and have a record that can be used in case of accidents.
We will also make a note of any medical conditions and allergies you have that we need to be aware of. This is done to ensure that your dental treatments are carried out under the right precautions.
We are also happy to obtain your records from your previous dentist. If you want us to obtain the records from your previous dentist, we will use the first examination to check the health of your teeth and prevent diseases.
Check the health of your teeth and prevent diseases
For the first examination, we also do what we call a "check-up". This is a check of how your teeth, gums, mucous membranes and jaw joints are doing. This gives us an insight into whether you need dental treatment.
If you need dental treatment, we'll give you an estimate of what needs to be done, what treatment options are available and a price estimate.
You can read about the latest reimbursement rules for dentists on our reimbursement page.
If you have dental fear, we'll talk about it
If you're afraid of going to the dentist, we'll make sure to talk about your concerns at your first appointment. We are specially trained in dental anxiety and always focus on this in our dental treatments.
Is it easy to switch dentists?
The short answer is yes. You may have just moved to town and are trying to switch to a new dentist. Changing dentists when you move is not a difficult process as it does not require you to book an appointment. However, you still need to contact us to make sure you get called in on time.
Once you contact us, we will collect your medical records and other information so you can be called in for your annual check-up. However, you must remember to inform your old dentist if you move to us before your next dental check-up.
Why choose a new dentist?
There can be many reasons to switch to a new dentist. The most common reasons are often the following:
- Relocation
- Poor service
- Unclear prices (here you can see our → prices)
- New job.
There are many reasons for changing dentists, but whatever the reason, we will do our best to make it quick and easy for you.

Why choose us?
You should choose us as your new dentist because we are a harmonious small team with great expertise in all kinds of dental treatments. Our clinics provide a dynamic and balanced work environment with room for humor and good spirits. We take great pride in collaborating on everything at the clinic, which we believe benefits you.

Has it been a long time since you've been to the dentist?
If it's been more than 1 year since your last dental visit, we recommend that new patients have their teeth x-rayed. The vast majority of cavities occur in the spaces between teeth, which are difficult to keep clean and also difficult to detect in time.
X-ray images
A bitewing image on each side can reveal even small holes before they need to be drilled. This is why dental X-rays are a good idea and a great help.
Dental cleaning
It is important to have tartar removed as it collects bacteria. You can't remove tartar yourself, it must be removed either by a dentist or a dental hygienist.
Pricing
X-rays and dental cleanings are priced by the Danish Health Authority and are therefore the same for all dentists in Denmark.
Does it cost anything to change dentists?
As a patient, you have free choice of dentist and it costs you nothing to switch to us as your new dentist. When you choose us as your new dentist, you should be aware that we will need to perform a check-up before you can get a full dental status with us.
If you have had X-rays taken recently, they will automatically be transferred to us. As a general rule, we recommend that you have X-rays taken every two years. This makes it easier for us to assess your teeth based on previous dental history - and to determine how often you should have x-rays in the future.
Treatments at first examination
Sometimes there is time to do minor treatments during the initial examination. It could be a small hole in a tooth or a preventive treatment such as fluoride varnish and instruction on proper brushing and flossing.
Treatments are not included in the price of a survey.
